Nino Rota

SWR Chamber music

The musicians of the SWR Sinfonieorchester return for another rich and rarely-heard chamber music program at the Whitsun Festival in Baden-Baden. Of particular note is the unusual string quartet by Russian composer Anton Arensky: exceptionally, Rachmaninoff’s teacher calls for just one violin, plus a viola and two cellos. The additional bass foundation evokes an atmosphere reminiscent of Orthodox church music, which was no coincidence: Arensky’s Quartet mourns the recent death of Peter Tchaikovsky.

The casino's admission regulations apply: Minimum age 21 years, presentation of identity card and compliance with the dress code.
