La Scala Theatre Ballet

Hommage à Ballets Russes

Neumeier's ballets are performed by companies all over the world. The American choreographer is continually developing his work, adapting to new dancer personalities and taking into account the history of the respective company. The La Scala Theatre Ballet, for example, is closely linked to the history of ballet in Russia: hailing from Milan, Enrico Cecchetti was appointed ballet master in St. Petersburg and later of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in the nineteenth century. The Italian style influenced the Russian – and thus also Nijinsky's work, which will be the evening’s focus.
