Puccini Gala
Sondra Radvanovsky & Piotr Beczała
He is one of the greatest: Piotr Beczała has long been a superstar among tenors, sought after from Bayreuth to New York’s MET. He made his debut at the Festspielhaus years ago as the knight in shining armor in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta – with boyish charm, a Hollywood smile, and a voice whose lyrical power reaches all the way to the last corner of the hall. Beczała returns to Baden-Baden with another MET favorite: Sondra Radvanovsky. The soprano opened the past MET season as Cherubini's Medea: "A revelation," wrote the critics in New York. We wholeheartedly agree.
