ballet and opera before 2025
The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden will be hosting the new Winter Festival from December 12 to 22, 2025. Guests will include the Budapest Festival Orchestra with its chief conductor Iván Fischer and the National Ballet of Ukraine, which works under the most difficult conditions in its homeland. The program will include Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni, Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio, and the ballet The Snow Queen.
Benedikt Stampa notes: "After the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the disinvitation of the Mariinsky Ballet, we took some time in order to realign the winter program. I believe that with Iván Fischer and the world-class Budapest Festival Orchestra, we can mark a new milestone in our festival history. As a cultural space that has always maintained special bridges to Eastern Europe, we are taking a no less significant stand of solidarity and marking a new beginning with the guest performance of the Ukrainian National Ballet.
