Grand operas – grand emotions

Germany's largest opera house presents staged and concertante opera in 2025 - with a prominent cast. A new production of Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly is being staged for the Easter Festival with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Directed by Davide Livermore, with Eleonora Buratto (Butterfly) and Jonathan Tetelman (Pinkerton) singing the main roles. The premiere will be celebrated on Saturday, 12 April 2025.

Shortly before Christmas, the renowned conductor Iván Fischer will present his own concert-production of Mozart's Don Giovanni. The soloists include André Schuen (Don Giovanni), Luca Pisaroni (Leporello), Miah Persson (Donna Elvira) and Jessica Pratt (Donna Anna). The Budapest Festival Orchestra, one of the best orchestras in the world, will perform (Fri./Sun., 19/21 December 2025).
Further concert-operas in Baden-Baden in 2025: Der Freischütz with Golda Schultz (Agathe), Charles Castronvo (Max) and the actress Johana Wokalek as narrator (Sat., 3 May 2025) and Norma with Sonya Yoncheva in the title role (Sun., 24 August 2025).

The performances of Rossini's opera Cinderella (La Cenerentola) are intended for the whole family. Thomas Hengelbrock will conduct the semi-staged performances on Friday, 14 and Sunday, 16 November 2025.
